Anambra Govt Explains How Fake Made-in-Nigeria Agency Secured State’s Support

The Anambra State Government has explained how it became involved with a purported Made-in-Nigeria Agency that has since been exposed as fake and non-existent.

The state government said it had planned to host a South-East Made-in-Nigeria Fair in December after receiving what it believed was an official request from the agency.

The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, who was nominated as the state’s focal person for the agency, disclosed this while clarifying her involvement after her photograph circulated online.

According to Nnake, the process began in January 2026 when Governor Chukwuma Soludo received a letter purportedly from the Made-in-Nigeria Office, said to be under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

She said the letter requested that each state nominate a focal person, prompting Governor Soludo to nominate her in February.

Nnake explained that focal persons from the 36 states subsequently participated in a WhatsApp group where they discussed activities attributed to the purported agency.

She said the office later wrote to the Anambra State Government requesting that the state host the South-East Made-in-Nigeria Fair.

The request was approved, and an inaugural planning meeting was held about two weeks ago with an individual presented as the National Coordinator of the agency in attendance.

Nnake said the state committee subsequently began preparations for the event, which was scheduled for December 2 to 5, 2026.

However, following the exposure of the organisation as fake, Nnake said she had no knowledge of or involvement in any activities beyond the official engagements initiated through the correspondence received by the state government.

“I wish to clarify the circumstances surrounding the trending news concerning the purported ‘Made-in-Nigeria Agency,’ in which my photograph has been displayed and I have been identified as one of the State Coordinators,” she said.

She stressed that anything beyond the official interactions and preparations for the proposed fair was outside her knowledge and involvement.

The clarification followed widespread attention after Nnake’s photograph appeared among those associated with the purported agency, prompting questions about the state government’s involvement.
