Makinde Appoints Wolekanle as New Chief of Staff
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff, while Aderonke Adedayo will head the state’s Due Process Office.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff, alongside the appointment of Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced in letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
Akinwole, a grassroots politician, previously served as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission before his latest appointment.
Adedayo, who currently serves as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, will retain her existing position while taking on the additional responsibility of heading the Due Process Office.
In announcing the appointments, Makinde congratulated the two officials and urged them to demonstrate loyalty, commitment and dedication in discharging their responsibilities.
The governor expressed confidence in their ability to serve the state effectively, stressing the importance of diligence and commitment to the duties entrusted to them.
The appointment of Akinwole follows the resignation of the former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, who announced his departure from the state government on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Ogunwuyi, in his resignation letter, said his decision took effect from the date of the letter, while expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state and contribute to the administration’s development agenda.
The changes come amid a series of resignations by political appointees in the Makinde administration in recent months.
