LP Candidate Warns Abia Youths Against Electoral Violence
Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Chima Anyaso, has urged youths to reject electoral violence, intimidation and malpractice ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Mr Chima Anyaso, has urged Nigerian youths, particularly those in Abia State, to reject electoral violence and attempts to manipulate the electoral process.
Anyaso made the call on Wednesday in Uzuakoli during the presentation of his manifesto and the signing of a social pact with stakeholders and residents of Bende Local Government Area.
He urged youths not to allow themselves to be recruited by politicians to perpetrate violence during the elections, stressing that no political ambition was worth sacrificing their lives or future.
“No election is worth your life. No politician’s ambition is worth destroying your future,” he said.
The LP candidate also urged voters to scrutinise the records and qualifications of candidates seeking elective positions in the 2027 elections, rather than being influenced by empty promises.
He said his proposed development agenda for Bende Federal Constituency was contained in the pact signed with residents and was designed to address their concerns and improve representation.
Anyaso, an entrepreneur from Igbere, said he would prioritise the development of roads, hospitals and schools, while supporting skills acquisition and economic opportunities for youths and women if elected.
He also pledged to serve a maximum of two terms, citing the political understanding between the Umunna and Ikwu Isii blocs in the constituency.
He said he would respect the arrangement by supporting an Ikwu Isii candidate at the appropriate time rather than seeking a third term.
Anyaso urged his supporters not to be intimidated or discouraged ahead of the election, saying they should exercise their right to choose their preferred candidates freely.
He also called for transparency, accountability and measurable results from elected representatives.
The candidate commended Abia Governor Alex Otti, Labour Party leaders and residents of Bende for their support.
The development comes amid calls by political leaders in Abia for peaceful electioneering ahead of the 2027 general elections. Governor Otti recently warned that violence would not be tolerated during political campaigns and said security agencies had been directed to provide a level playing field for all parties and candidates.
