Kwara Transport Unions Appeal to Federal Government Over Fractured Inter-State Bridge Corridors
Transport and logistics unions in Kwara State have sent a desperate plea to the government to repair collapsed bridges that have severed critical trade routes and worsened food distribution bottlenecks.
Major transportation and logistics unions across Kwara State have issued an urgent joint appeal to President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, pleading for an immediate emergency intervention to rebuild several vital inter-state bridges that have completely collapsed. The severe structural failures along these critical transit arterial routes have effectively paralyzed local commerce, cut off major agricultural distribution networks, and left hundreds of heavy-duty supply vehicles completely stranded along the regional trade channels. Union leaders warned that the prolonged logistical gridlock is rapidly compounding the nation's severe food inflation crisis, as essential commodities are left to spoil in transit while alternative transport routes add massive fuel costs to commercial haulage operations. The transport syndicates are demanding that the Federal Ministry of Works prioritize the immediate deployment of emergency structural engineers to install temporary bridge infrastructure before regional trade completely breaks down.
