Kwara CP Orders Strict Traffic Enforcement
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has ordered strict enforcement of traffic laws across the state under a new operation tagged “Operation Velvet”, aimed at curbing traffic violations, promoting responsible driving and improving road safety.
The Kwara State Police Command has commenced a fresh operation to enforce traffic laws and curb violations by motorists across the state.
The operation, tagged “Operation Velvet”, commenced on Tuesday under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, in line with a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The command said the exercise would be continuous and aimed at ensuring strict compliance with traffic regulations, promoting responsible driving and improving road safety.
In a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the police said the operation was also designed to protect the lives and property of all road users across the state.
The command urged motorists to comply with existing traffic regulations and cooperate with police personnel during the enforcement exercise.
It said the operation would cover traffic violations capable of endangering road users or disrupting the free flow of traffic.
The Commissioner of Police directed officers deployed for the exercise to enforce the law professionally and ensure that the operation contributes to safer roads across Kwara.
The command also appealed to members of the public to support the initiative by reporting traffic violations and other activities that could compromise road safety.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to sustained enforcement and collaboration with relevant stakeholders to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic laws in the state.
