Kalu Meets Tompolo, Mobilises Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has met with High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, to discuss strategies for mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kalu, who also serves as Deputy Director-General for the South II Directorate of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, said the meeting focused on strengthening grassroots mobilisation across the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones.

The discussions followed the commissioning of the national secretariat of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja on Friday, a political platform established to support Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

The meeting considered ways to improve voter sensitisation, youth engagement and coordination at ward level across states covered by the South II Directorate.

Kalu described the movement as an important platform for reaching voters directly, arguing that electoral success depended on sustained engagement at polling-unit and household levels.

He said the campaign would work to communicate the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to communities nationwide, adding that collaboration with Tompolo, the movement’s convener and grand patron, was important to expanding its reach.

At the secretariat’s commissioning, Kalu also cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the establishment of regional development commissions as examples of initiatives he said demonstrated the administration’s commitment to national development.

He particularly commended Tinubu for assenting to the South-East Development Commission Act, describing it as a step towards addressing reconstruction, infrastructure and development needs in the region.

Kalu urged members of the movement to strengthen their organisational structures across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas and 8,809 wards to support the President’s re-election campaign.

He also called on campaigners to promote peaceful democratic participation and listen to citizens’ concerns during their engagements.

The Deputy Speaker said political mobilisation should encourage constructive exchanges between leaders and the public, stressing the importance of allowing Nigerians to participate in public life peacefully and with dignity.
