Indonesian Pharmaceutical Firm, Dexa Group, Plans Lagos Factory, Targets 300 Jobs

Indonesian pharmaceutical company Dexa Group has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Lagos State, a development expected to create about 300 jobs and strengthen local pharmaceutical production.

The proposed investment is part of the company’s expansion strategy in Nigeria and its wider efforts to increase access to locally manufactured medicines across Africa.

The facility is expected to support the production and distribution of pharmaceutical products, while creating employment opportunities for Nigerians in manufacturing, quality control, logistics, administration and related areas.

The proposed project also aligns with Nigeria’s drive to reduce dependence on imported medicines and strengthen its domestic pharmaceutical industry.

Lagos, with its established commercial infrastructure, access to major transport networks and concentration of pharmaceutical businesses, offers a strategic location for the planned investment.

The development is expected to contribute to technology transfer, skills development and the growth of local supply chains if the project proceeds as planned.

Dexa Group is one of Indonesia’s pharmaceutical companies, with operations spanning medicine manufacturing, distribution and healthcare-related businesses. Its proposed Lagos facility would further expand the company’s presence in the Nigerian market.

The investment comes amid efforts by the Federal Government and state governments to attract foreign direct investment into manufacturing, improve local production capacity and create jobs.

However, details including the factory’s proposed location within Lagos, construction timeline, production capacity and the specific categories of medicines to be manufactured have yet to be established in this report.

The proposed 300 jobs are expected to provide employment opportunities for Nigerians as the project moves towards implementation.
