I Never Questioned Tinubu Over Political Decisions Unfavourable to Me — Gbajabiamila

Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said he never questioned the President’s leadership despite occasions when Tinubu made political decisions that did not favour his personal interests.

Gbajabiamila made the remarks on Saturday at his 2026 Mega Empowerment Programme held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, while speaking about his longstanding political relationship with the President.

He said his relationship with Tinubu had endured for many years and that he had remained loyal to the President even when some of his political decisions did not align with his own preferences.

According to Gbajabiamila, loyalty had remained an important part of his relationship with Tinubu, adding that he never betrayed the confidence placed in him.

He said, “In politics, loyalty is the currency we spend the most. I have been with Mr. President for many years and there have been times when his political decisions did not favour my wishes. I did not question his leadership and never betrayed his trust in me.”

Gbajabiamila added that his commitment to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda remained unchanged.

The Chief of Staff also addressed recent allegations linking him to the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC.

He said the allegations had subjected him to intense scrutiny but maintained that investigations by the relevant authorities had cleared him of wrongdoing.

Gbajabiamila said the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission had cleared him, adding that the investigative reports were now in the public domain.

He also commended Tinubu for insisting that due process should be followed rather than reaching a conclusion before the investigations were completed.

According to him, some people had wanted the President to make a quick judgment, but Tinubu allowed the investigations to run their course.

Gbajabiamila said the controversy would not distract him from carrying out his responsibilities as Chief of Staff.

He also warned individuals against using his name to defraud or misrepresent members of the public, saying such actions would eventually face legal consequences.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives further urged young Nigerians aspiring to public office not to be discouraged by the challenges that could accompany political leadership.
