Get Another Job, Abuja, Rivers for Peter Obi — Isaac Fayose on Wike’s Vow to Resign

Nigerian businessman and political commentator, Isaac Fayose, has reacted to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike’s vow to resign if Peter Obi secures victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Fayose, in a social media post, challenged Wike to follow through with his declaration, suggesting that the former Rivers State governor should prepare to leave his current position if Obi emerges as the next President.

Wike had reportedly said he would resign from his position as FCT Minister if Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, wins the 2027 presidential election.

Reacting to the statement, Fayose told Wike to “get another job,” while also making a reference to Abuja and Rivers State in his commentary.

His remarks have added to the growing political exchanges surrounding the 2027 general elections, with politicians and political commentators increasingly responding to statements from prominent figures about possible alliances, candidates and electoral outcomes.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under President Bola Tinubu.

His political position has attracted attention because of his continued influence in Rivers politics and his role in the Federal Government.

The minister was among the five Peoples Democratic Party governors known as the G5 during the 2023 presidential election who opposed the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Following the election, Wike was appointed to the Federal Executive Council by Tinubu.

Peter Obi, who finished third in the 2023 presidential election, has remained a prominent figure in discussions surrounding the 2027 election. His potential political alignment and participation in the next presidential contest have continued to generate reactions from politicians and political commentators.

Fayose’s comments come amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, with political actors and supporters debating possible candidates, alliances and strategies.

The exchange also reflects the growing attention surrounding the political futures of Wike and Obi as parties and political groups begin positioning themselves ahead of the next general election.

Wike has yet to indicate any change in his current position, while Fayose’s remarks were presented as a reaction to the minister’s stated position concerning a possible Obi victory in 2027.

Political discussions are expected to intensify as preparations for the 2027 elections continue across the country.
