Fury to Invite Trump to Lead Ring Walk Before Joshua Fight
Tyson Fury plans to invite Donald Trump to join his ring walk before his December showdown with Anthony Joshua.
Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury says he plans to invite United States President Donald Trump to join him for his ring walk ahead of his highly anticipated fight against Anthony Joshua.
Fury and Joshua are scheduled to meet on December 11 at the 80,000-capacity Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in their first professional meeting.
The long-awaited all-British heavyweight contest was officially confirmed last month after years of negotiations between the two former world champions.
Fury said he would extend an invitation to Trump, whom he described as an old friend, although he acknowledged that the president’s schedule could make his attendance difficult.
“I’ll definitely make that offer to my old buddy, old pal, and we’ll see if he’s available,” Fury said.
He added that Trump’s responsibilities as president could make it unlikely for him to travel to Wales for the bout.
Fury met Trump earlier this year at the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House, where the British boxer made a surprise appearance.
The proposed ring-walk appearance would give Trump a prominent role before one of the biggest boxing events scheduled for 2026.
Fury and Joshua faced each other at a press conference in London on Wednesday as preparations for their December showdown intensified.
The two fighters have been linked with a potential meeting for years, but previous negotiations failed to produce a professional bout.
Fury, who has held the WBC heavyweight title, said he has no plans to retire after facing Joshua and is already looking beyond the December contest.
The British boxer said he wants to pursue a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated him twice in undisputed heavyweight title bouts.
Fury described the Joshua fight as preparation for another potential meeting with Usyk and said he remains focused on continuing his career beyond the December contest.
Joshua, a former unified heavyweight champion, will also be looking to add another major victory to his professional record when he faces Fury.
The December fight will take place under the roof of the Principality Stadium, providing a major stage for the long-awaited British heavyweight clash.
Fury’s comments about Trump come as organisers continue preparations for the event, which is expected to attract significant global attention.
The fight will be streamed live on Netflix, with the platform confirming the December 11 date and Cardiff venue.
Fury and Joshua have never previously fought professionally, making their upcoming meeting one of the most anticipated heavyweight contests of their careers.
