Family Seeks Answers Over Missing Wrist in Chinyere Death Case
The family of Chinyere Susan Rosemary has called for a comprehensive autopsy and forensic investigation into her death, raising concerns over a reportedly missing wrist and other locations allegedly linked to the suspect.
The family of Chinyere Susan Rosemary, whose remains were reportedly discovered in a locked apartment in Enugu, has called for a comprehensive autopsy and forensic investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
Chinyere’s remains were reportedly found in an apartment at Olympic Layout, One-Day, Enugu, after neighbours raised concerns over an offensive odour coming from the locked property.
The apartment reportedly belonged to Emmanuel Okpara, 30, who was subsequently arrested by the police in connection with the case.
The Enugu State Police Command said preliminary investigations indicated that Chinyere was allegedly killed on Sept. 19, 2026.
According to the police account, the suspect allegedly told investigators that an argument between him and Chinyere over an allegation concerning HIV preceded the incident, during which he allegedly struck her with a pestle, resulting in her death. The allegations remain subject to investigation and due process.
However, the family says several questions remain unanswered, including concerns about the condition of Chinyere’s remains and the reported absence of one of her wrists.
Her sister, Maryam Kenechi, said the family had identified the remains at a mortuary in Enugu through a tribal mark shared by members of the family.
She said the identification was extremely painful and disturbing, adding that the family appreciated the efforts of the Enugu State Police Command but wanted the investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding Chinyere’s death.
Kenechi said the family was particularly concerned about the reported missing wrist and had appealed to the suspect to provide information that could help investigators recover every part of Chinyere’s body.
She also appealed to anyone with credible information about other residences allegedly connected to the suspect to come forward and assist the police.
According to her, the family had learned that the apartment where Chinyere’s remains were discovered might not have been the suspect’s main residence, raising further questions about whether other locations could contain evidence relevant to the investigation.
The family is therefore seeking a detailed autopsy and forensic examination to determine the cause and circumstances of Chinyere’s death and establish what happened to her body afterwards.
Kenechi stressed that the family was not seeking revenge but justice, urging the authorities to preserve all available evidence and investigate every aspect of the case.
Chinyere, popularly known as #Itchinny Susan Rose, was a hairstylist. Her family described her as a daughter, sister and friend who had plans and aspirations before her death.
The family said her inability to speak for herself made it their responsibility to seek answers and ensure that the circumstances surrounding her death were fully established.
The police investigation and autopsy process are ongoing, while the allegations against the suspect remain unproven pending the conclusion of investigations and any subsequent judicial proceedings.
