Fake Agency: Gbajabiamila Threatens Adeyemi With N10bn Suit Over Murder, Bribery Claims

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has threatened a N10 billion defamation suit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi over allegations linking him to murder, bribery, abuse of office and other criminal conduct.

The legal threat was contained in a letter dated July 6, 2026, signed by Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, of Pinheiro LP, acting on behalf of the Chief of Staff.

According to the letter, the action followed a June 25 press conference where Adeyemi, who is standing trial over alleged forgery and impersonation in connection with the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, accused Gbajabiamila of demanding a share of the council’s alleged take off grant, receiving money through proxies, abusing his office and participating in a criminal cover up.

The lawyers described the allegations as false, malicious and highly defamatory, insisting that Gbajabiamila had never met, communicated with or had any official or personal relationship with Adeyemi.

The letter also referenced the ongoing criminal proceedings against Adeyemi before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he is facing charges bordering on alleged forgery, including the alleged falsification of an appointment letter bearing Gbajabiamila’s signature and the alleged counterfeiting of Presidential letter headed papers.

Gbajabiamila demanded that Adeyemi immediately remove all materials relating to the allegations from every platform, publish a full retraction and apology in at least five national newspapers and across his social media accounts, and provide a written undertaking not to make similar statements in the future.

The lawyers gave Adeyemi 72 hours to comply, warning that failure to do so would result in criminal defamation proceedings as well as a civil action seeking N10 billion in aggravated and exemplary damages.

The letter further stated that the damages, if awarded, would be donated to a charity of Gbajabiamila’s choice.

The controversy is connected to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, an entity Adeyemi claims was recognised in the 2026 Appropriation Act. However, the Presidency has consistently maintained that the council is fictitious and has no legal existence.

Adeyemi is expected to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 27, 2026, as proceedings in the forgery case continue.
