The awards were presented during the 11th edition of the company’s annual scholarship programme at the Egbin Power Clubhouse Auditorium in Ikorodu. Community leaders and beneficiaries commended the company for sustaining the initiative.
The scholarship programme provides educational support to students from communities hosting the power generation company and is designed to encourage academic excellence.
The Odofin of Ijede, High Chief Babatunde Ogunmuyiwa, who represented the Alajede of Ijede Kingdom, Oba Adefarasin Hassan, commended Egbin Power for maintaining the programme over the years.
He said the scholarship had positively affected students and families in the communities by encouraging young people to work harder and pursue higher educational goals.
Speaking on behalf of the six Community Liaison Officers representing the host communities, Wahab Bello also praised the company’s investment in education.
He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity and continue to demonstrate commitment to their studies.
The Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour, said the company remained committed to supporting education and creating opportunities for young people in its host communities.

Among the beneficiaries was Royalty Olasunkanmi, who emerged as the top scholar in the Host Community category. Another beneficiary, Mercy, was recognised as the top scholar in the Academic Excellence Award category.
Olasunkanmi encouraged other students to remain committed to their studies, while Mercy said the scholarship had strengthened her determination to pursue her academic ambitions.
