Don Jazzy Hits Back Over False Baby Claim
Music executive Don Jazzy has issued a stern warning to an X user who falsely claimed he and Ayra Starr’s mother were expecting a baby together. In a sarcastic response, the Mavin Records boss urged the user’s family members to “talk sense” into him, hinting at possible legal action over the defamatory post that has since sparked widespread reactions online.
Nigerian music executive and producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has reacted to a viral social media claim alleging that he is expecting a child with the mother of singer Ayra Starr.
The claim surfaced on X on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, after a user identified as @AJSMILE911 shared videos featuring Don Jazzy and Ayra Starr’s mother. Alongside the videos, the user made a striking claim about the music executive and the singer’s mother. “Don Jazzy and Ayra Starr’s mom happily celebrate as they prepare to welcome their unborn baby,” the post read. The claim quickly put the spotlight on the music boss, leaving social media users to speculate about the nature of his relationship with Ayra Starr’s mother.
Don Jazzy did not ignore the post. Reacting directly to the X user, the music executive appeared to dismiss the allegation while also expressing frustration over the claim. “Let me first tag and beg your family members to talk sense to you now o,” he wrote. The response was widely interpreted as a sarcastic caution, with many noting that the phrase “Let me first tag and beg your family members” suggested the Mavin boss was considering legal action and wanted the user’s family to intervene before he escalated the matter.
The post and Don Jazzy’s reaction have since generated a wave of comments from social media users, many of whom expressed support for the music executive and condemned the spread of false information about public figures. One user, @sammymurphy18, wrote, “Forgiveness is of the lord we are all humans and we are not suppose to forgive our fellow humans don baba J.” Another user, @iSlimfit, commented, “Don Jazzy, if you pity him, I will have to delete all your songs and your artists’ own from my playlist forever.” A third user, @Seankleann, took a more aggressive stance, writing, “Please arrest him, charge him go court and make sure he is there till next year. Let him celebrate Xmas and New year in Prison and make sure you don’t listen to his parents that refused to train him properly cos pikin wey dey no train for house, go receive am outside. Bunkum!”
The incident comes amid growing concerns over the spread of misinformation and defamatory content on social media platforms in Nigeria. Public figures have increasingly found themselves targeted by false claims designed to generate engagement or damage reputations. In a related development, Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold recently opened up about the legal action he took against a man who spread false information claiming that his family had lost their daughter, Adejare Kosoko. Speaking on the One 54 Podcast, Adekunle Gold said he is prepared to deal with whatever is said about him because public attention comes with his career, but he draws the line when false claims involve his daughter.
Don Jazzy, born Michael Collins Ajereh, is one of the most influential figures in African music. He co-founded Mo’ Hits Records with singer D’banj in 2004. The label became one of Nigeria’s leading music companies before its dissolution in 2012. In the same year, he founded Mavin Records, which has been instrumental in launching the careers of Afrobeats stars like Ayra Starr, Johnny Drille, Crayon, Rema, and Ladipoe. The label has received numerous accolades, including the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Record Label in 2013 and 2014.
Ayra Starr, whose real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, is one of Mavin Records’ most successful artists. Since her breakout in 2021 with the hit single “Away,” she has become one of the most streamed Nigerian artists globally, earning international recognition and collaborations with major stars. Her mother has occasionally appeared in public with her, and the viral post appears to have exploited that connection to fabricate a sensational story.
The false claim about Don Jazzy and Ayra Starr’s mother is the latest in a series of social media hoaxes targeting Nigerian celebrities. In recent months, several public figures have had to publicly deny rumours about their personal lives, health, and relationships. The trend has raised questions about the responsibility of social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation and the need for stronger legal frameworks to protect individuals from defamation.
For Don Jazzy, the response was characteristically measured but firm. By choosing to address the claim publicly rather than ignore it, he sent a clear message that he will not tolerate falsehoods about his personal life. Whether the user behind the post will face legal consequences remains to be seen, but the incident serves as a reminder that in the age of viral misinformation, even the most baseless claims can travel far and fast. For now, the Mavin boss has made his position clear: those who spread lies about him should expect to hear from his lawyers.
