Christ Apostolic Church Gives JABU ₦30m Monthly, Says President
The Christ Apostolic Church has increased its monthly financial support to Joseph Ayo Babalola University to ₦30 million from ₦20 million to sustain the institution’s operations as it marks its 20th anniversary.
The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) provides Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, with ₦30 million monthly to support its operations, the church’s president, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has disclosed.
Oladele made the disclosure on Thursday while speaking with journalists on the university campus during activities marking its 20th anniversary.
He explained that the church initially provided ₦20 million monthly before increasing the amount to ₦30 million to help sustain the faith-based institution.
According to him, establishing the university required prayer, careful planning, consultation, sacrifice and institutional discipline. He recalled that a Planning and Implementation Committee was inaugurated on January 31, 2002, under the chairmanship of Professor A. M. A. Imevbore to develop the institution and ensure it met regulatory requirements.
Oladele said the university was established to enable the church contribute to society beyond its spiritual responsibilities through education, character development, leadership training and human capacity building.
He noted that the decision to locate the institution in Ikeji-Arakeji was significant because of the community’s association with the prophetic calling of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola in October 1928.
The church president said the project began when the church had limited financial resources but was pursued through faith and commitment. He described the university’s development over two decades as evidence of the progress achieved through sustained support.
Oladele, however, said the institution was expected to expand its capacity and become less dependent on monthly financial assistance as it continued to grow.
He explained that JABU was designed not only to award academic qualifications but also to equip students with entrepreneurial skills, professional competence, strong character and a sense of service.
The president commended the university’s management, members of the church in Nigeria and abroad, the host community and other stakeholders for contributing to its development.
The anniversary celebration is being held under the theme, “Two Decades of Divine Grace, Growth and Glory.”
