Chibuike Nwaiwu has praised his strong start at Trabzonspor in the Turkish Süper Lig, crediting hard work and discipline for his smooth adaptation from the Nigeria Professional Football League. The 22-year-old defender, formerly of Enyimba and Heartland FC, also recently earned a senior call-up to the Super Eagles.
Super Eagles center-back Chibuike Nwaiwu has expressed his immense satisfaction with his seamless transition and impressive start to life in the Turkish Süper Lig with Trabzonspor, All Nigeria Soccer reports.
The 22-year-old defender, who has rapidly established himself as a reliable force in Trabzonspor's backline since his move from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), attributed his seamless adaptation to a relentless work ethic and tactical discipline.
Reflecting on his journey from the domestic league, having previously starred for Heartland and Enyimba—to the high intensity of European football, Nwaiwu noted that consistency and intense daily preparation have been key to earning the trust of the technical crew.
"I am very happy with how things have started for me here at Trabzonspor," Nwaiwu stated. "Moving to a big club in Europe is never easy, but I knew that only hard work and focus would get me through. Every training session is an opportunity to improve, and I am glad the effort is reflecting on the pitch. The coaches and my teammates have been incredibly supportive, which made it easier to adjust to the speed and tactics of the league."
Nwaiwu's stellar domestic performances for the Turkish giants have not gone unnoticed on the international stage. His commanding defensive displays recently earned him a long-awaited call-up and senior debut for the Nigerian national team, positioning the young center-back as a vital part of the Super Eagles' long-term defensive rebuilding plans.
