Ghana Armed Forces deploy additional troops to Sahel border regions
The Ghana Armed Forces have deployed additional troops to border regions adjacent to the Sahel zone to enhance surveillance.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have deployed an additional battalion of troops to border communities in the Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions following an assessment of cross-border security threats.
Chief of Defence Staff Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah said the deployment was a precautionary measure and part of Ghana's broader border security enhancement strategy.
"Ghana's borders are sovereign and their integrity is non-negotiable," Lt. Gen. Oppong-Peprah said.
