The Director of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, has said the party’s campaign for the 2027 presidential election will be issue-based, with emphasis on the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Edu said on Monday in Abuja that women in the party were strengthening grassroots mobilisation across communities, households and voting constituencies to secure another mandate for Tinubu and sustain the implementation of his policies.

She said the campaign would highlight the administration’s record in infrastructure development, economic reforms, educational opportunities and programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of Nigerians.

According to her, the party intends to present its policies, programmes and measurable results to voters rather than rely on empty promises or personality-driven rhetoric.

Edu commended Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda. She also praised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her advocacy for women, families and national development.

She acknowledged the contributions of Vice-President Kashim Shettima, his wife Nana Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and other party leaders in supporting grassroots mobilisation.

The director said women remained an important force in Nigeria’s electoral process because of their numerical strength and influence in families, markets, professional associations and community organisations.

She explained that the mobilisation strategy would go beyond rallies to include sustained engagement with voters, political education, direct communication and election-day sensitisation.

Edu identified the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of the initiatives the party would highlight, saying the student loan programme was helping to address financial barriers to higher education for eligible students.

She said the administration’s investments in education, infrastructure and other sectors would form part of the record presented to Nigerians during the campaign.

The director added that the women’s mobilisation structure would work with the party’s national leadership, state chapters, women leaders and affiliated groups to communicate government policies and strengthen participation in the democratic process.

She said the immediate priority was to improve coordination among women’s groups and ensure that the party’s message reached both rural and urban communities.

Edu maintained that effective mobilisation required consistent engagement and meaningful interaction with citizens, rather than simply gathering large crowds at political events.

She expressed confidence that cooperation between the party’s leadership and its women’s structures would strengthen nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election, urging APC women to remain united and organised in pursuit of the party’s objectives.
