APC Primaries Shake-Up as Two Senatorial Aspirants Withdraw From Kebbi Race
Two aspirants contesting for senatorial tickets under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State have withdrawn from the party’s primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The aspirants reportedly announced their withdrawal after consultations with party leaders, supporters, and political associates. According to reports, the decision was aimed at promoting unity and strengthening the APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
Party stakeholders described the move as part of ongoing consensus-building efforts within the APC as aspirants continue negotiations and strategic alignments ahead of the primaries.
The development comes amid increasing political activity across Kebbi State, where aspirants for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly positions have intensified consultations and grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political observers say withdrawals and consensus arrangements have become common strategies within major political parties as leaders attempt to avoid internal crises and reduce post-primary disputes. Analysts also note that Kebbi remains one of the key APC strongholds in northern Nigeria.
The APC leadership in the state has reportedly urged party members to remain peaceful and support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidates for the general elections.
