Adeola Pledges Better Welfare, Training Centres for Ogun Teachers
APC governorship candidate in Ogun, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, has pledged improved welfare, better working conditions and professional development opportunities for teachers if elected governor in 2027.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Sen. Olamilekan Adeola, has pledged to improve teachers’ welfare and working conditions if elected governor in the 2027 election.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, made the pledge in a message to mark the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, commending teachers across the state for their contribution to education and human capital development.
He said teachers remained central to the development of Ogun State and deserved greater attention to their welfare, professional growth and working environment.
Adeola pledged to review teachers’ salaries, improve working conditions and ensure timely payment of their entitlements.
He also promised to establish teacher training centres in each of Ogun’s three senatorial districts to provide opportunities for continuous professional development and help teachers update their skills.
“Teachers play a critical role in shaping the future of our children and, by extension, the future of Ogun State. Their commitment, patience and dedication deserve recognition and support,” he said.
The APC candidate said strengthening the teaching profession would contribute to improved learning outcomes and a more effective education system.
He further pledged to provide opportunities for teachers to enhance their professional capacity, stressing that investment in educators was essential to the development of the state’s human capital.
Adeola’s latest pledge follows earlier engagements with teachers and education stakeholders in the state, during which concerns were raised over welfare, salaries, pensions, professional development and working conditions.
He said his proposed administration would prioritise measures that would enable teachers to perform their responsibilities in a more conducive environment.
World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on October 5 to recognise the contribution of teachers to education and society.
