Adeboye Prayed for Me, Says Sowore After RCCG Visit
African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore says RCCG General Overseer Enoch Adeboye prayed for him during a private meeting after Sunday’s National Thanksgiving Service in Lagos.
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress AAC, Mr Omoyele Sowore, has said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, prayed for him during a private meeting after a thanksgiving service in Lagos.
Sowore disclosed this in posts on his X handle on Sunday after attending the RCCG National Thanksgiving Service at the church’s headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
He said he attended the service on invitation alongside the AAC National Chairman, Pastor Samuel Ajeigbe, and received a warm reception from members of the congregation when he was introduced.
According to Sowore, he later held a private meeting with Adeboye, who offered to pray for him and expressed confidence in his political journey.
Sowore said the cleric told him that he had been following his activities and considered his path honourable.
He said the meeting was significant because it was his second encounter with Adeboye at the same venue, 30 years after their first meeting.
Sowore recalled that their first meeting took place in 1996, shortly after he completed his National Youth Service Corps programme, when he was involved in a campaign against campus cultism.
He expressed appreciation to members of the church for their reception and to Adeboye for the conversation and prayers.
Sowore, however, said his attendance at the thanksgiving service was not intended to promote a political agenda.
The AAC candidate also called for peace, progress and unity among Nigerians, while later commenting on reactions to his visit from supporters of other political groups.
The visit took place as political parties and candidates prepare for the 2027 general elections, with Sowore expected to contest the presidency on the AAC platform.
