Actress Annabel Apara Raises Alarm Over AI-Generated Pregnancy Images
Nollywood actress Annabel Apara has urged the public to disregard fabricated AI-generated images and videos portraying her as pregnant, warning against the spread of unverified content.
Nollywood actress and content creator Annabel Apara has raised concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence to create and circulate false images and videos depicting her as pregnant.
Apara, who spoke during a podcast monitored in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, said she had seen several AI-generated pictures and videos falsely portraying her as expecting a child.
She clarified that the claims were untrue and urged fans and members of the public to verify information about her through her official and verified social media accounts before believing or sharing such content.
The actress expressed surprise at how quickly the fabricated material gained attention and circulated online, warning that the growing accessibility of artificial intelligence was making it easier to manipulate the images of public figures without their consent.
She advised her supporters to rely exclusively on information published through her verified platforms for updates about her personal life, career and activities.
Despite the incident, Apara said she remained focused on expanding her career beyond acting into content creation, writing and film production.
The actress, who is studying English Arts at the University of Lagos, has featured in productions including After School, One Night Guests, Walls Apart, Along Came Love, Danfo Dreams, Campus Chronicles, Campus Queen and Love Denied.
She gained wider recognition following her mentorship under actress and producer Ruth Kadiri and said she was committed to developing her creative abilities across different areas of the entertainment industry.
Apara also expressed appreciation to her supporters for following her career and encouraged social media users to exercise caution when encountering content involving public figures.
She said the incident highlighted the importance of verifying digital information in an era when artificial intelligence can make fabricated images and videos appear authentic.
The actress urged the public to avoid circulating unconfirmed claims about her and to disregard any pregnancy-related content that did not originate from her verified accounts.
