2027: Seyi Tinubu More Powerful Than Shettima Under Tinubu — Kwankwasiyya Spokesman
Kwankwasiyya spokesman Habeeb Mohammed says Seyi Tinubu wields more influence than Vice President Shettima, insisting the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket offers no electoral advantage in 2027.
The National Spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habeeb Saleh Mohammed, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, wields more influence in the current administration than Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Mohammed made the assertion while reacting to President Tinubu’s decision to retain Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, arguing that the move offers no significant electoral advantage to the All Progressives Congress.
According to him, the decision was not unexpected, describing it as a continuation of the ruling party’s previous political strategy rather than a move aimed at broadening support.
He said many Nigerians, particularly in the North, had already formed opinions about the Muslim-Muslim ticket based on the performance of the current administration, adding that religion would no longer determine voting patterns in the next election.
Mohammed argued that competence, sincerity and the ability to address the country’s challenges would be more important to voters than religious considerations.
He further alleged that Shettima had played a limited role in the administration, claiming that the Vice President had largely been assigned ceremonial duties rather than responsibilities that significantly influenced governance.
According to him, many Nigerians could not identify any major contribution made by Shettima since the administration assumed office, insisting that key challenges such as insecurity and poverty remained unresolved, particularly in the northern region.
Mohammed also claimed that the President retained Shettima primarily for political convenience rather than because of any electoral value the Vice President might add to the ticket.
He maintained that the APC’s decision would not improve its chances in the 2027 general election, insisting that many voters were now focused on governance and performance rather than identity politics.
The Kwankwasiyya spokesman added that the current administration had failed to deliver meaningful improvements in security and living conditions across the North, including Shettima’s home state of Borno.
He said many people in the region remained dissatisfied with the government’s performance and would assess political parties based on their ability to address pressing national issues ahead of the next general election.
