Olubadan Warns Mogajis: You’ll Be Held Responsible for Security Breaches in Your Domains

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has warned Mogajis, or compound heads, against involvement in criminal activities, saying they will be held accountable for security breaches within their domains.

Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, issued the warning while installing four new Mogajis in Ibadan.

The newly installed traditional leaders are Olusegun Emmanuel Ogunyemi of Ogunwelu Compound in the Oke-Ado area of Ibadan North-East, Akeem Olalekan Alade of Oju-Abere Compound in Inalende, Ibadan North-West, Aderinto Adesoji of Sangodeyi Ikuola Compound in Idi-Arere, Ibadan South-West, and Adewale Idowu Akanmu Abonde of Abonde Compound in Ibadan North-East.

Speaking through the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, Ladoja congratulated the new Mogajis on their appointments and urged them to uphold the responsibilities attached to their traditional positions.

The Olubadan warned them to avoid criminal and other activities capable of undermining the peace and reputation of Ibadanland.

He specifically urged the Mogajis to shun social vices including land grabbing, drug abuse, corruption, hatred and vendetta.

“You are my ambassadors anywhere you are. Consequently, you should key into my vision of taking Ibadanland to a greater height,” he said.

Ladoja stressed that Mogajis serve as practical representatives of the Olubadan within their respective family compounds and therefore have a responsibility to promote peace and security.

He warned that any Mogaji whose domain becomes associated with criminal activities would be held responsible for security lapses occurring within the area.

The traditional ruler urged the newly installed Mogajis to work with relevant authorities and community stakeholders to maintain law and order, protect residents and contribute to the development of Ibadanland.
