Osimhen Under Fire After Clash With Mourino
Osimhen faces criticism after clashing with Villarreal defender Mourino during Galatasaray’s pre-season defeat at RAMS Park.
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has come under criticism following his clash with Villarreal defender Santiago Mourino during a pre-season friendly.
Osimhen was involved in a heated confrontation with Mourino during Galatasaray’s 2-1 defeat to Villarreal at RAMS Park over the weekend.
The Nigerian forward reportedly became frustrated after Mourino used his body to prevent him from getting into a dangerous position inside the penalty area.
The incident escalated, with both players involved in the confrontation before the referee showed Osimhen a yellow card.
Reacting during his post-match interview, Villarreal head coach Inigo Perez criticised Osimhen over the incident, arguing that the Nigerian should have received a red card.
“There is not much to say about the football, because the opposing team didn’t come onto the field to play football, but to fight,” Perez said.
“Osimhen attacked our player out of nowhere and only got a yellow card.”
The incident has sparked criticism of Osimhen, with questions raised over his reaction during what was only a pre-season fixture.
Osimhen remains one of Galatasaray’s key attacking players as the Turkish champions prepare for the new season.
