Joint security operatives in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State have arrested two suspected kidnappers and recovered N8 million ransom paid by a victim’s family, while also rescuing an abducted woman from captivity.

The operation was confirmed by the Chairman of Qua’an Pan LGA, Christopher Audu Manship, through a statement issued by his media aide. He identified the suspects as Waltu Watter and Sale Mamma.

According to the statement, the suspects allegedly killed Alhaji Saidu Mamma during an attack and abducted his daughter, later demanding and receiving N8 million as ransom. Acting on intelligence, security operatives launched a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the full ransom.

Manship, who spoke during the parade of the suspects, reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for criminal activities. He commended the security agencies for their professionalism and commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the area.

He further directed that the recovered money be returned to the family of the deceased, noting that justice must be complemented with compassion for victims.

In a related development, security operatives also rescued Mrs. Gambo Bello, who had been kidnapped in Nasarawa State and taken to a forest within Qua’an Pan. Her rescue followed intelligence reports about suspicious movements around the Pandam Game Reserve.

Recounting her experience, Bello said she spent over a week in captivity before security forces stormed the kidnappers’ hideout. She disclosed that the operatives engaged the criminals in a gun battle, forcing them to flee and abandon her in the forest.

The council chairman described the operation as another milestone in ongoing efforts to curb insecurity, noting that similar arrests and recoveries had been recorded in the past.

He also appreciated the support of Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang in strengthening the state’s security architecture, while pledging continued surveillance across border communities to prevent further criminal infiltration.
