Governor Babagana Zulum became emotional on Saturday as he appealed for forgiveness from stakeholders and residents who may have felt offended during his administration.
The governor made the plea during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress held at the Government House in Maiduguri.
At the gathering, party leaders in the state unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The motion for the joint ticket was moved by APC National Vice Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, and received overwhelming approval through a voice vote by party loyalists present at the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Zulum urged members to remain united and peaceful as political activities intensify. He stressed that leadership is ultimately determined by divine will, calling on supporters to accept outcomes in good faith.
“Power is given by God to whom He wills. Regardless of personal feelings, if God ordains it, it will come to pass,” the governor stated.
He further encouraged stakeholders to stay committed to democratic values and actively mobilise voters to support the APC in the next election cycle.
Zulum also aligned with earlier remarks by the state party chairman, Bello Ayuba, reaffirming the party’s determination to deliver victory for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket in 2027.
The meeting highlighted growing political momentum within the APC in Borno State, as party leaders closed ranks in preparation for the general elections.
