‘You’re Campaigning for Your Future’ — Tinubu Tells City Boy Movement
President Bola Tinubu urges City Boy Movement members to see political mobilisation as an investment in their future and leadership opportunities.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged members of the City Boy Movement to recognise that their efforts to mobilise support for his administration also offer them an opportunity to shape their political future.
Tinubu delivered the message while addressing members of the pro-government group, which is organising grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The President encouraged the members to remain committed to their activities, stressing that political participation could help prepare young Nigerians for leadership and greater responsibilities in public service.
The City Boy Movement has positioned itself as a youth-focused political mobilisation platform supporting Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his bid for a second term in office.
The group has been expanding its presence across the country through community engagement, voter mobilisation and campaigns aimed at explaining the administration’s policies.
Its leadership has said the movement intends to reach voters at ward, local government and community levels, with particular attention to young Nigerians.
The organisation has also announced an ambitious target of mobilising 10 million youth votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Tinubu’s remarks come amid growing political activity ahead of the next general election, with political parties and support groups beginning to strengthen their grassroots structures.
The President has repeatedly defended his administration’s economic reforms, including the removal of petrol subsidies and changes to the foreign exchange system, arguing that the measures are necessary to address longstanding structural weaknesses in the economy.
However, the reforms have attracted criticism from Nigerians facing rising living costs, transportation expenses and pressure on household incomes.
The City Boy Movement has maintained that sustained engagement with communities is necessary to communicate government policies and encourage public participation.
As preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace, the group is expected to continue expanding its activities and encouraging supporters to participate in the electoral process.
Tinubu’s message underscores the movement’s dual role in supporting his re-election campaign and providing members with opportunities to gain experience in political organisation and grassroots engagement.
