Why I Took Break from Music, Kizz Daniel
Afrobeats singer Kizz Daniel says he paused his music activities following the death of his mother earlier in 2026, rather than because he was working on a new album.
Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has disclosed that the death of his mother prompted his recent break from music.
The singer made the disclosure on Friday while responding to a fan on X who suggested that he had taken time away from music because he was working on a new album.
Kizz Daniel said the break was instead prompted by the loss of his mother earlier in the year, adding that he had to continue with his responsibilities towards other members of his family.
He wrote that he had “paused for my Mom” and that he lost her in 2026, adding that he had to keep moving for the rest of his family.
The revelation drew messages of sympathy from fans, who expressed condolences and offered prayers for the singer and his family.
Kizz Daniel has previously spoken about personal losses. His father died in 2015, while one of his triplets died in 2021. His wife also lost her mother in 2024.
The singer had previously announced a break from recording music in June 2025, saying at the time that he wanted to spend more time with his family after they complained that he was prioritising his music career. He also said he had more than 600 unreleased songs.
Kizz Daniel is known for songs including “Woju” and “Buga”.
