‘We Stand With Him Even Beyond 2027’ — Charismatic Bishops Endorse Tinubu
Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria declares support for President Tinubu, citing his administration’s policies and appointments.
The Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, declaring that it will continue to support him beyond the next election.
The bishops made their position known on Wednesday during the 2026 Synod of the CBCN, where they expressed support for the President and highlighted what they described as positive developments under his administration.
Speaking during the event, the bishops said their support for Tinubu was not limited to the 2027 election, stressing their willingness to remain aligned with him as long as he continued to lead the country.
“We stand with the president today, and as long as he’s willing to be our president and even come in 2027, we will still be standing with him,” the bishops said.
The group also appealed to the Federal Government over the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, urging the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, to prevail on President Tinubu to consider his release.
The bishops’ endorsement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties, religious groups and other stakeholders increasingly taking positions on the emerging political landscape.
The CBCN also pointed to appointments made by the Tinubu administration as part of the reasons for its support, according to reports on the endorsement.
The declaration adds the bishops’ voice to the growing political debate surrounding Tinubu’s bid for another term in office.
The 2027 election is expected to feature a broad field of political interests as opposition groups and the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) intensify preparations for the contest.
For the bishops, however, their current position represents continued confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and a commitment to support his political direction.
The group’s declaration comes against the backdrop of increasing mobilisation by political actors across the country as the next presidential election draws closer.
