Village Boys Movement Mobilises Abia Grassroots for Obi
The Village Boys Movement, a support group backing Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential bid, has begun grassroots mobilisation across Abia State, with a focus on voter sensitisation and protecting legitimate votes during the election.
The Village Boys Movement, a support group backing the presidential aspiration of Peter Obi, has commenced grassroots mobilisation across Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Abia chapter announced the initiative during a rally in Umuahia, saying it was aimed at taking Obi’s message to communities, mobilising voters and sensitising them on the need to protect their votes.
The State Leader of the movement, Barrister Nkasiobi Madumere, popularly addressed as the “Headmistress”, said the group was determined to ensure that legitimate votes were counted and protected during the 2027 elections.
Madumere described the movement as a national grassroots platform comprising Nigerians who believe in Obi’s vision for the country.
She said the group’s strategy was to reach voters at the grassroots, particularly in rural communities, and encourage them to participate actively in the electoral process.
“We are grassroots mobilisers. We want good governance, a better Nigeria and a Nigeria that works for all of us,” she said.
The Abia leader said the movement was open to Obi supporters across political parties, including members of the Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party and other political platforms.
She clarified that the Village Boys Movement was not a formal structure of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, despite Obi being the party’s presidential candidate.
According to her, the movement is headed nationally by Mazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, with other national officers including Ben Chukwu and Dr Justin Kingland.
Madumere said the group would also work with willing candidates contesting under the NDC while retaining its identity as an independent support platform for Obi.
She urged members and supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding while mobilising voters ahead of the election.
The movement said its broader objective was to build a strong grassroots political base capable of translating support for Obi into votes in the 2027 presidential election.
