Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has said social media activist VeryDarkMan has replaced the judiciary as the hope of the common man.

Farotimi made the remark while discussing the growing influence of social media activism and public dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s justice system.

He said many Nigerians who previously looked to the courts for justice now turn to influential social media personalities to draw attention to grievances and alleged injustices.

The lawyer noted that VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, had built a significant following by publicly challenging individuals and institutions over issues affecting ordinary Nigerians.

Farotimi said the development reflected a broader loss of confidence in established institutions, particularly the judiciary.

He argued that when citizens begin to rely on individuals outside formal institutions to obtain attention or redress, it indicates a serious problem with the country’s justice system.

He called for reforms that would restore public confidence in the judiciary and ensure that ordinary Nigerians could obtain justice through established legal channels.
