UCL: Musiala Returns to Help Bayern Thrash Bodo 5-0

Jamal Musiala made an impressive return to the Bayern Munich starting line-up as the German champions opened their UEFA Champions League campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory over Bodø/Glimt on Thursday.

The match at the Allianz Arena was goalless at half-time, with Bayern dominating possession but struggling to break down a compact Norwegian defence.

Musiala changed the game shortly after the restart, opening the scoring in the 47th minute with a composed finish to give Bayern the breakthrough.

The goal was particularly significant for the Germany international, who returned to the starting line-up after being sidelined following health problems.

Bayern quickly built on Musiala’s opener. Harry Kane doubled the advantage in the 61st minute, before Alphonso Davies added a third goal 16 minutes later.

Michael Olise then took centre stage, scoring twice in the closing stages to complete Bayern’s emphatic victory.

Olise struck in the 83rd minute before adding his second in stoppage time, putting the final gloss on a dominant second-half performance.

The result continued Bayern’s impressive record in Champions League opening matches and gave Vincent Kompany’s side a strong start to their European campaign.

For Musiala, however, the biggest story was his successful return to competitive football. His goal provided an emotional moment after a difficult period and underlined his importance to Bayern’s attacking plans.

Bayern had struggled to find a way through during the first half, but Musiala’s early second-half strike opened the floodgates and transformed the contest.

Bodø/Glimt, who had shown considerable resistance before the interval, were unable to contain Bayern once the hosts found their rhythm.

The Norwegian side were reduced to 10 men late in the match when Odin Bjørtuft was sent off, making an already difficult task even harder.

Bayern will now look to build on the convincing victory as they continue their Champions League campaign, with Musiala’s return providing an additional boost to their ambitions.

For Bodø/Glimt, the heavy defeat represents a difficult introduction to the league phase against one of Europe’s most experienced clubs.

The emphatic second-half display will nevertheless strengthen Bayern’s confidence as they pursue another deep run in Europe’s premier club competition.
