Two Feared Killed, 20 Abducted in Fresh Kaduna Community Attack
Suspected gunmen attack Akwando community in Kachia LGA, leaving two people feared dead and 20 residents reportedly abducted.
Two people are feared dead and 20 others have reportedly been abducted following a fresh attack on Akwando community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attack reportedly occurred around midday on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, while residents were still recovering from previous incidents of violence in neighbouring communities.
The development was made public on Thursday by the President of the Kuturmi Unity Development Association (KUDA), Dr Joseph Ariko, and the association’s Publicity Secretary, Manasseh Samuel Akwando.
The association described the incident as another troubling development in the persistent security challenges affecting Kuturmi communities.
KUDA released the names of the 20 people reportedly taken away by the attackers. They include Usman Galadima, La’a’zarus Genesis, Madalin Markus, Happy Stephen, Lovet Ishaya, Afiniki Irimeya, Amina Ahmadu, Miracle Genesis, Hellen Irimeya and Musa Genesis.
Others are Janet Irimeya, Gloria Markus, Zila Stephen, Alis Ahmadu, Haske Ahmadu, Great Isiac, Hanatu Irimeya, Desmon Ishaya, Siam Shagari and Nansy Genesis.
The association recalled that an earlier attack on Ariko community on Easter Sunday reportedly claimed five lives at the scene, while another 17 victims later died in captivity.
It also cited an attack on Awon community, where two people were reportedly killed and 11 abducted. According to the group, five of those abducted regained their freedom on November 3, but one reportedly died the following day. Another victim escaped, while five others were said to have died in captivity.
KUDA said the recurring attacks had forced residents to abandon their farmlands, disrupted livelihoods and heightened fear across affected communities. It also raised concerns about alleged restrictions on access to ancestral lands and demands for payments before residents could farm.
The association called on the Federal Government, Kaduna State Government and Kachia Local Government Council to strengthen security operations, establish permanent security posts and coordinate efforts to rescue those abducted.
It also urged authorities to investigate the attacks, prosecute those responsible and provide assistance to affected families and displaced residents.
As of the time of reporting, the Kaduna State Police Command had not publicly confirmed the latest attack. The police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, reportedly did not respond to calls and a text message seeking the command’s reaction.
The number of casualties and abducted residents therefore remains based on the community association’s account pending official confirmation.
