Turkey: Osimhen Moves Up to Third in Galatasaray’s Foreign Scorers Ranking
Victor Osimhen has climbed to third on Galatasaray’s all-time foreign scorers’ list after taking his tally to 62 goals.
Victor Osimhen has moved into third place on Galatasaray’s all-time list of highest-scoring foreign players following his impressive performance in the club’s 4-0 victory over Erzurum FK on Friday.
The Nigeria international scored twice in the emphatic Turkish Super Lig victory, taking his Galatasaray tally to 62 goals in 76 appearances. He has also provided 16 assists for the Turkish champions.
Osimhen’s brace saw him overtake former Czech Republic international Milan Baros, who scored 61 goals during his time with the Istanbul-based club.
The 27-year-old now trails only two Galatasaray legends on the club’s foreign goalscorers’ chart. Argentina striker Mauro Icardi leads with 77 goals, while Romanian great Gheorghe Hagi is second with 72.
Osimhen needs 11 more goals to surpass Hagi and move into second position, while 15 additional goals would take him beyond Icardi’s tally.
His latest performance also extended an impressive start to the new campaign. Osimhen has scored four goals across Galatasaray’s opening two league matches, becoming the first player since Brazilian striker Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season to score at least four goals in the opening two matches of a Süper Lig campaign.
The Super Eagles striker’s rapid rise on Galatasaray’s scoring chart further underlines his impact since joining the Turkish champions.
With his goals continuing to come at an impressive rate, Osimhen is now closing in on two of the biggest foreign scoring records in Galatasaray history.
