Turkey: Nigerian Forward Gift Orban Matches Osimhen’s Goal Tally With Hat-Trick
Gift Orban scored a hat-trick for Amedspor to move level with Victor Osimhen on six Turkish Super Lig goals.
Nigerian forward Gift Orban continued his impressive start to the Turkish Super Lig season by scoring a hat-trick as Amedspor thrashed Istanbul Başakşehir 5-0.
Orban’s treble took his league tally to six goals, putting him level with compatriot Victor Osimhen at the top of the Turkish Super Lig scoring chart.
The 24-year-old striker delivered another outstanding performance as Amedspor produced a dominant display against Başakşehir.
Orban’s latest goals came after he had already found the net in his previous two league matches, taking his tally to six goals in five league appearances.
His current form has quickly established him as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the Turkish top flight.
Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray, had also scored six league goals before Orban’s hat-trick brought the Amedspor striker level with him in the scoring race.
The performances of both Nigerians have added another intriguing dimension to the Super Lig season, with the pair competing among the league’s leading goalscorers.
Orban joined Amedspor after spells with Gent and Lyon and has quickly adapted to Turkish football, becoming a key figure in the club’s attack.
His hat-trick against Başakşehir also extended his remarkable scoring run and strengthened his case for greater attention from the Nigeria national team setup.
The striker’s form comes at an important time for the Super Eagles, with Nigeria preparing for upcoming international engagements.
For Amedspor, Orban’s goals have provided a major boost as the club seeks to establish itself among Turkey’s competitive top-flight sides.
His latest performance is also likely to increase comparisons with Osimhen, who has established himself as one of Nigeria’s leading strikers and a prolific goalscorer in European football.
With both players now on six Super Lig goals, the race for the league’s Golden Boot is already shaping up as an interesting contest involving two Nigerian forwards.
Orban will now look to maintain his scoring form in Amedspor’s next league fixture, while Osimhen will aim to regain outright possession of the scoring lead with Galatasaray.
