Tinubu Secures Dominant Victory In APC Presidential Primary
President Bola Tinubu has won the APC presidential primary for the 2027 election, defeating his sole challenger Stanley Osifo by a wide margin in a party-wide direct voting exercise widely seen as a strong endorsement of his candidacy.
President Bola Tinubu has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary after defeating his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, by a wide margin across multiple states.
The primary election, conducted through the APC’s direct voting system across thousands of wards nationwide, effectively served as an endorsement of Tinubu’s bid to represent the ruling party in the 2027 presidential election. Reports from several states showed overwhelming support for the incumbent president, while Osifo recorded little to no votes in many areas.
Senior APC figures, including governors, lawmakers, and party executives, had already publicly backed Tinubu before the exercise took place. Political observers described the process as a strong display of party unity ahead of the next general election.
Speaking after casting his vote in Lagos, Tinubu described the primary as evidence of internal democracy within the party and praised members for participating peacefully in the exercise.
Meanwhile, attention is also shifting towards opposition parties, particularly the African Democratic Congress, where discussions over a possible consensus presidential candidate continue amid internal disagreements among leading aspirants.
