Tinubu Reinstates Suspended Permanent Secretary Danjuma
President Bola Tinubu has reinstated M.S. Danjuma as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, effective October 21, following a review of his suspension.
President Bola Tinubu has reinstated M.S. Danjuma, Permanent Secretary in charge of Finance (Special Duties) at the Federal Ministry of Finance, two months after his suspension over an investigation into an alleged unauthorised government agency.
The reinstatement takes effect from October 21, 2026, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel.
The statement said the President approved Danjuma’s reinstatement after due diligence, with the approval conveyed in a letter dated October 22.
Danjuma was suspended on August 21 alongside two other permanent secretaries, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah, following findings by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The investigation concerned the alleged operation of a purported government agency known as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The ICPC had alleged that the office was promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze and operated without presidential authorisation, with suspected involvement of public servants. The commission said its investigation was ongoing.
Following the reinstatement, Danjuma has been directed to resume his official duties and discharge his responsibilities in accordance with the Public Service Rules, relevant regulations and ethical standards governing the Federal Civil Service.
The statement did not announce any reinstatement decisions concerning the two other permanent secretaries suspended in August.
The development comes amid a broader investigation into alleged fictitious government bodies and weaknesses in public service procedures. The Federal Government has said the investigations are aimed at identifying irregularities and strengthening accountability within government institutions.
Danjuma’s reinstatement follows the review of his case, while the wider investigation into the alleged unauthorised agency remains a separate matter.
