Tinubu, Macron Meet for Private Dinner in Paris
President Bola Tinubu has met French President Emmanuel Macron for a private dinner at the Élysée Palace in Paris, with the engagement focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and France.
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with French President Emmanuel Macron for a private dinner at the Élysée Palace in Paris.
The meeting was disclosed on Friday by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared photographs of the engagement.
Onanuga said the meeting reflected the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and France and the commitment of both countries to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Photographs from the dinner showed Tinubu with Macron and France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, at the Élysée Palace.
The private engagement took place as Tinubu rounded off a three-week annual leave in Europe. The President had departed Abuja on August 30, travelling first to London before proceeding to Paris for the second leg of his vacation.
Tinubu arrived in the French capital on September 6 and was received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Ayodele Oke.
No detailed account of the discussions at the dinner was released, with the Presidency only stating that the engagement was part of efforts to deepen cooperation between Nigeria and France.
The two countries maintain bilateral ties covering areas including trade, investment, diplomacy and other areas of mutual interest.
The meeting also marked another high-level engagement between Tinubu and Macron in Paris, where the Nigerian President has held several official and private engagements since assuming office.
