Tinubu’ll Lose Credible 2027 Election Before 4pm — Baba-Ahmed
PRP chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed predicts Tinubu will lose 2027 if INEC delivers a credible, free and fair election.
The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential election if the poll is conducted credibly, freely and fairly.
Baba-Ahmed made the statement on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday while assessing the political implications of the recent Osun State governorship election.
According to him, the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke demonstrated that the All Progressives Congress could be defeated despite its control of significant political structures across the country.
He argued that the Osun result showed that opposition parties could challenge the ruling party successfully without necessarily forming a broad coalition against it.
Baba-Ahmed said, “If it’s a credible, free and fair election, I assure you, Tinubu will lose. I won’t say before 12 noon. Maybe before 4 pm.”
He described the APC as “a monster eating itself up and eating everybody up,” alleging that the party’s dominance at the federal and state levels had not eliminated political uncertainty within its ranks.
The PRP chairman noted that the President controls the Federal Government while the APC also has a substantial majority in the National Assembly and governors across most states.
Despite these advantages, he argued that the administration remained politically vulnerable because of the country’s current economic and social conditions.
Baba-Ahmed said the outcome of the Osun election should encourage opposition parties and demonstrate that the ruling party could be defeated through the ballot box.
He dismissed speculation that there may have been an understanding between Tinubu and Adeleke ahead of the Osun election, saying he believed the result reflected the strength of the electorate.
The PRP chairman also questioned whether the Independent National Electoral Commission would be able to conduct a presidential election in which the incumbent would be a contestant.
“Nobody should praise INEC until it can actually conduct an election in which the President is a contestant,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed stressed that the credibility of the 2027 election would be crucial to Nigeria’s democratic stability.
He warned that any serious doubts about the fairness of the process could create significant political tension and threaten the country’s democracy.
“I hope the election will be credible, free and fair. If it’s not, I foresee a very serious threat to Nigeria’s democracy,” he said.
