President Bola Tinubu has described the Hausa people as important pillars of Nigeria’s unity and progress.
Tinubu stated this in a message posted on his X handle on Wednesday to commemorate Hausa Day, being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace in Katsina State.
The President said the Hausa community had continued to play a significant role in the country’s development, while describing the Hausa language as an important means of connecting people and communities.
“The Hausa people are great pillars that play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
He added that the Hausa language had flourished and become a major language of unity and commerce across the world.
Tinubu congratulated the Hausa community on the occasion, acknowledging the cultural and linguistic significance of the celebration.
Hausa Day, also known as World Hausa Day or Ranar Hausa, is observed annually on Aug. 26 to promote the Hausa language, culture and heritage.
The President’s message comes as Nigeria continues to emphasise the importance of national unity and peaceful coexistence among its diverse ethnic and linguistic communities.
Tinubu has previously urged Nigerians and political actors to avoid using ethnic or religious sentiments to divide the country, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
