Tinubu Departs Abuja for Makkah to Pray for Nigeria
President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah and pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and progress.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to undertake the Islamic pilgrimage of Umrah and offer prayers for Nigeria.
The President’s trip follows an announcement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, that Tinubu would travel to the holy city to perform the religious rites.
During the visit, the President is expected to pray for the country’s peace, unity, stability and continued development amid ongoing national challenges.
Umrah, commonly referred to as the lesser pilgrimage, is an Islamic act of worship performed in Makkah. Unlike Hajj, which takes place during a specific period of the Islamic calendar, Umrah can be undertaken at different times throughout the year.
The trip is presented as a spiritual exercise focused on seeking divine guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its citizens.
Before his departure, Tinubu was also expected to inaugurate newly acquired Nigerian Air Force equipment at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Air Force as security agencies continue efforts to address threats across the country.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the pilgrimage.
Tinubu’s visit comes as the Federal Government continues to address security concerns, economic pressures and other national priorities. His planned prayers for Nigeria place emphasis on peace and national cohesion as the administration pursues its policy agenda.
Further details about the President’s engagements during his stay in Saudi Arabia have not been announced.
