Tinubu Arrives Lagos After France Working Vacation
President Bola Tinubu has returned to Lagos after concluding his four-week working vacation in Europe, the Presidency confirms.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Lagos after concluding his working vacation in Europe.
The President arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday evening after departing Paris, France.
According to reports, the presidential aircraft touched down at the airport at about 6:22pm.
Tinubu was received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other senior government officials and dignitaries.
The President had departed Abuja on August 30 for a working vacation, initially spending one week in London before travelling to Paris, where he continued his stay.
During his time in France, Tinubu held several engagements, including a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron. He also met with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, for discussions involving investment and Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.
The Presidency had earlier said Tinubu remained in contact with developments in Nigeria and continued to direct government affairs while abroad.
His return to Lagos comes ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebrations on October 1.
The Presidency said Tinubu chose to return through Lagos in order to honour the memory of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 1993 presidential election.
The President is expected to attend the premiere of a film honouring Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, on Independence Day.
Tinubu is also scheduled to hold meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos. The Presidency said the meetings would form part of preparations for the 2027 elections.
He is expected to return to Abuja after completing his engagements in Lagos.
The President’s return marks the end of his extended European working vacation, which lasted about four weeks after his departure from Nigeria on August 30.
