Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested six suspected kidnappers operating around Soktu Hill in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The Army also received a surrendered Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist at Borgozo in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Acting Military Information Officer, North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Goni said the six suspected kidnappers were arrested following credible intelligence on the activities of a kidnapping syndicate operating around Soktu Hill.

He said troops of Sector 4, in collaboration with local hunters, raided the identified hideout, arresting three suspected members of the group and recovering a Dane gun.

Further investigations and covert operations led to the arrest of three additional suspects, bringing the total number of arrests to six.

According to the Army, preliminary investigations showed that the syndicate had been operating across the Soktu, Dumne and Maigero areas of Song Local Government Area.

The suspects reportedly admitted involvement in the abduction of several victims for ransom and other violent crimes in the area.

The Army said the suspects remained in military custody for further investigation and appropriate legal action.

In Borno, Goni said troops of 29 Task Force Brigade, operating under Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai, received a surrendered Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist on September 13.

He said the terrorist had escaped from a terrorist enclave with the intention of abandoning terrorism.

The items recovered from him included an AK-47 rifle, 14 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, four magazines, an improvised explosive device, a magazine pouch and a bicycle.

The surrendered terrorist was taken into military custody for further investigation and profiling in accordance with established procedures.

Goni said the operations demonstrated the sustained pressure being mounted by troops against terrorists and other criminal elements across the North-East.

He said the Theatre Command remained committed to denying terrorists freedom of action, creating a safer environment for residents and supporting socio-economic activities in the region.
