Tenebe Urges Edo Voters to Back Tinubu, Reject ADC
Edo APC Chairman Jarrett Tenebe has urged voters to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and reject the African Democratic Congress (ADC), criticising Rotimi Amaechi’s remarks about those who support the President.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, has called on voters in the state to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and reject the African Democratic Congress ADC.
Tenebe made the appeal in reaction to comments attributed to former Rivers State Governor and ADC chieftain, Rotimi Amaechi, during a town hall meeting in Benin City on Thursday, October 8.
Amaechi had urged Edo residents to reject Tinubu’s re-election, making remarks that Tenebe described as reckless and irresponsible.
The Edo APC chairman argued that political disagreements should not be used as a reason to insult citizens over their preferred candidates or party affiliations.
He said voters were capable of making informed electoral decisions without intimidation or derogatory comments from politicians seeking public office.
According to Tenebe, democracy depends on persuasion, the exchange of ideas and respect for citizens’ choices rather than ridicule directed at supporters of opposing candidates.
He questioned Amaechi’s approach to political engagement, maintaining that individuals who had occupied prominent public offices should demonstrate restraint and tolerance in their statements.
Tenebe also called on security agencies to caution politicians against inflammatory remarks that could heighten political tensions or trigger confrontations among supporters of rival parties.
He stressed that every citizen had the right to support a candidate of their choice, regardless of political affiliation, and urged political leaders to address differences through constructive debate on policies, programmes and records in public service.
The APC chairman encouraged Edo voters to assess the parties and candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, while reiterating his party’s call for support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
He expressed confidence in the party’s position in the state, saying the APC would continue engaging voters on its programmes and the Tinubu administration’s record as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
