TCN Restores Kainji-Birnin Kebbi 330kV Transmission Line
The Transmission Company of Nigeria has restored the Kainji-Birnin Kebbi 330kV transmission line after more than three weeks out of service following the collapse of a transmission tower in Kebbi State.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN has restored the 330kV Kainji-Birnin Kebbi Single Circuit Transmission Line after it was out of service for more than three weeks following the collapse of Tower 367 in Yauri, Kebbi State.
TCN said the line was successfully returned to service at 5:24 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, after its engineers completed emergency restoration works at the affected location.
The transmission company said the line had been taken out of service following the collapse of the tower on September 7.
According to TCN, the restoration involved dismantling and decommissioning the collapsed tower, aligning and preparing the conductors and skywire, erecting an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower and completing other works required to safely restore the line.
The company said its engineers and technical personnel worked continuously to complete the repairs and return the transmission line to service as quickly and safely as possible.
The Kainji-Birnin Kebbi line is an important component of the electricity transmission network serving parts of the North-West, including Kebbi and neighbouring areas.
The outage had disrupted bulk electricity transmission along the corridor, with TCN previously maintaining supply to some affected areas through alternative transmission routes.
TCN thanked electricity consumers and other stakeholders in the affected areas for their patience and understanding during the period of the outage.
It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a stable and reliable transmission network.
