Tantalizers Moves To Acquire Nigeria's Largest Fishries Group In Major Expansion Push
Tantalizers Plc has signed an MoU to acquire Nigeria’s largest indigenous fisheries group, marking a major expansion into seafood production, logistics, and the country’s blue economy sector.
Tantalizers Plc has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire Nigeria’s largest indigenous fisheries group in a major expansion move aimed at strengthening its position in the country’s blue economy and food production sector.
The agreement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tantalizers Plc and Karflex Fisheries Limited alongside Karflex Investment Limited.
Under the arrangement, Tantalizers is expected to integrate the assets of the fisheries firms, which include about 24 fish trawlers and shrimpers, 13 cold-room facilities, and other related marine infrastructure, into its fisheries subsidiary once due diligence is completed.
Company officials said the deal forms part of a broader strategy to diversify beyond the fast-food business into seafood production, export operations, cold-chain logistics, and sustainable marine development.
Tantalizers’ management noted that financial, legal, technical, and environmental evaluations will be conducted before the acquisition is finalised, with advisers GTI Capital and United Capital overseeing the process.
If completed, the transaction will mark one of the company’s most significant diversification steps since its transformation into a broader “foodtainment” group, expanding its footprint across Nigeria’s growing blue economy sector.
Analysts say the move reflects increasing investor interest in Nigeria’s fisheries and export potential, particularly in seafood processing and international trade markets.
