Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued a kidnapped woman in Kebbi State and foiled an attempt by her abductors to collect ransom.

The rescue operation was carried out during a military operation aimed at disrupting the activities of criminal elements operating in the state.

The troops reportedly acted on intelligence concerning the movement of the abductors and moved to prevent the ransom payment while making efforts to secure the victim.

The woman was subsequently rescued and taken to safety, while the security forces continued operations to track down the fleeing kidnappers.
