Shearer Predicts Draw for Man United, Backs Chelsea to Beat Sunderland
Former England striker Alan Shearer has predicted Manchester United will draw with Aston Villa at Old Trafford, while backing Chelsea to secure an away victory against Sunderland in Sunday's Premier League fixtures.
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has predicted a draw between Manchester United and Aston Villa, while tipping Chelsea to defeat Sunderland in Sunday's Premier League matches.
Shearer gave the predictions ahead of the two fixtures, which form part of the final round of league matches before the November international break.
The former England international expects Manchester United and Aston Villa to share the points when they meet at Old Trafford, describing the encounter as a potentially close contest.
He noted that both sides were coming into the match after contrasting midweek results, with United recording a victory while Aston Villa suffered defeat against Barcelona.
Shearer also acknowledged Villa manager Unai Emery's tactical ability but maintained that the circumstances surrounding both teams made a draw a likely outcome.
For the Sunderland-Chelsea encounter at the Stadium of Light, the former striker backed the visitors to claim all three points.
He acknowledged Sunderland's return to European football but pointed out that Chelsea had not been involved in continental competition during the week.
Shearer also recognised Chelsea's difficulties in attack, particularly the absence of forward Joao Pedro, but cited their victory over Manchester United the previous weekend as a reason for backing them.
The former Premier League top scorer therefore predicted an away win for Chelsea.
Sunderland are scheduled to host Chelsea at 3 p.m. on Sunday, while Manchester United will welcome Aston Villa at 5:30 p.m.
