Seven persons were killed and two others injured in a multiple road traffic crash involving three vehicles at Kara, Ibafo, along the Ibafo-Lagos corridor in Ogun State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps said the crash occurred at about 12:03 a.m. on Monday.

According to the FRSC, nine people, all males, were involved in the crash.

The vehicles involved were a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC truck, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA.

The FRSC said its Ibafo Outpost received information about the crash at about 12:04 a.m. and arrived at the scene five minutes later.

The agency classified the incident as a fatal multiple road traffic crash, with speed violation identified as the probable cause, subject to further investigation.

The deceased victims were evacuated from the scene by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the two injured victims were taken to a medical facility for treatment.

The crashed vehicles were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibafo, for further necessary action.

The FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to exercise caution and avoid excessive speed.

He also advised drivers to maintain safe following distances and remain vigilant, particularly at night when reduced visibility and fatigue could increase the risk of crashes.

Ogunjobi commiserated with the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
